Mershon and Hollingsworth 1855 Patent revolving carbine
Designed in the mid 1850′s in the United States by Ralph S. Mershon.
.40 cap and ball 6-round cylinder, self-cocking spring-loaded clockwork action, trigger capable of being locked back for - apparently - fully automatic fire.
This followed the 1853 Patent self cocking revolver the same duo produced, which was equally weird.
